Etsy Focus: Consistently Tracking Your Stats

Disclaimer: This is a side project taking place simultaneously with pricing and social media which will be covered in the next two posts within the next seven days. For today, I'm looking at a little "busy work" but not so mundane that it won't matter. This "Busy work" will need to be finished by the first week of February and you'll see why then.

Re-Branding cannot take place until you know how your audience is finding you. How they are engaging, what they are doing, and what they are interested in.

  • Having a base knowledge of what you want your public image to be is great; but without knowing what people are attracted to in your business, re-branding is going to be difficult.

Because the need to understand what your customers are finding, wanting, and appreciating, this is your first task in re-branding.
  • Clarification: Since you already have your brand, and you have been producing a certain kind of product, your line of focus here becomes learning about what your customers are looking for, searching for, and engaging with. Once you establish those items, you are ready to move onto the next phase.

So below represents the official Step One for the year. It is my creation for tracking the stats within my Etsy shop and it's a universal Etsy format so you can easily use it. Just log into your account, click on your stats, select the specific and individual day and all the numbers and information will be there for that day. (I think there is a 30 day limit on that but I am not positive.) This is the goal for January! Next month, we will reference this sheet and find out what was working and do a little analyzing. For those who are doing this with me, fill out the info and either save it, print it and put it in your planner, or use it however it works best for you. This is the starting point (at least, for me and for this moment). If you are joining me, let me know what you think or if you are having any problems.

Until I can figure out how to upload a file here, the image is all I can provide for you through the blog. HOWEVER, if you would like a copy of the editable version of this document, feel free to shoot me an email at toadslilypondjewelry@gmail.com.
This will all be more clear come the first week of February when we sit down and learn about why this stat sheet matters. (If you already know, you are two steps ahead!) Grab a copy of this, get it filled out, and we'll talk more about it in February.

Next subjects of pricing and video marketing will be presented later this week. :)

Cheers to all! See you soon.

Hmmm...That Fell Flat

Well, as you can clearly see, the first couple weeks of January did not result in much fruitful behavior on my part. I'm a little disappointed about that, but if I were to quit just because I didn't start on time, well, that would just be outright insane.

So as far as branding; it looks like we are setting that to the side for a moment while we figure out few other internal business designs.

This next week will focus on two things: one, social media engagement and two, the most favorite topic of any entrepreneur: PRICES!
Honestly, I haven't decided whether or not I will be blogging live as I work through this aspect, but if I do, you will be the first to know (duh, you'll be able to see it!  )
You can always swing by my Etsy store if you want to see what creations are happening in the shop.

 Talk to you soon!

Planning for the New Year (2016)

So far, I have 7 months partially planned out for 2016. One thing I'm finding to be very difficult is trying to arrange my plans in an order that would be most beneficial to my shop on Etsy. Despite that, I'm slowly making headway.

The Plan

In the first month, over the first four weeks I will be working on creating a better brand for Toad's Lily Pond Jewelry. Month 2 will be dedicated to identifying who I am trying to reach and then solely on researching SEO using that knowledge. Despite having what I consider to be a good handle on it, I'm certain that there is much more that I am missing. Month 3 will focus on tags and application of learned SEO concepts. Month 4 will be all about product photography after again reviewing the brand I want to create. Month 5 will focus on the copy portion of everything (in other words, the writing). This includes item descriptions, integrating seo, tags, etc. Month 6 will focus on evaluating what has been done thus far. Ensuring that effort spent is making a difference in the workflow and practice. Lastly month 7 which is the slowest month of the year for me, will focus on creating spreadsheets, updating all inventory, creating product breakdowns, generating more effective sales lists, etc.

Questions?

Overall, for four weeks each month, (Week 1, 2,3, &4) I will have an objective to meet surrounding the given topics. As it approaches, I will post and let you know what the month's subject matter is and you are more than welcome to do it yourself as well. Post any comments or questions you have or you can email me as well.
